The area of ​​the city of Buje is located in the northwestern part of the Istrian peninsula and the Republic of Croatia. Approximately 5,300 inhabitants live on an area of ​​103.40 km2. The town of Buje is located between the rivers Mirna and Dragonja. In the north are the hills of Gornja Bujština, and in the south the Adriatic Sea in Kanegra and the Gulf of Piran, i.e. the Savudrijska Vala.

Together with Umag, Novigrad, Oprtlje, Brtonigla and Grožnjan and numerous other places and settlements, the town of Buje forms Bujština.

The landscape is diverse and rich. Geologists call the wide belt in the north the Buja karst or saddle (anticlinal) plain of Buja. Here there are frequent depressions or valleys, covered with red soil, in places mixed with loamy deposits.

Towards the Mirna valley, the terrain gently descends towards the plain that slopes down to the sea.
The landscape here is enriched with stepped terraces planted with vines and olive trees.
The proximity of the sea and the continental landscape, the diversity of the Mediterranean and mild continental climate, the tradition in agricultural production, crafts, industry, hunting and tourism, valleys and hills, untouched nature, the absence of environmental pollutants, the proximity of Pula, Rijeka, Koper and Trieste make the area of ​​the City of Buja attractive area of ​​the Istrian peninsula.
